Wildcat Families, we are asking for your help! It is our number one priority to keep our students, your children, safe during the school day, from arrival to dismissal. Their safety comes before everything else. We have specific and clear rules in place for our car rider loop. These rules and requests are not in place to control, but are in place so everyone remains safe. We have sent out much communication reminding parents about the importance of remaining off cell phones and keeping cars in "Park" (while at numbers 1-11). We thank each of you who do this every day in the car loop. We take note of that! However, we are stunned at how many family members do not follow these instructions, requests, or rules (whatever you would like to call them). We don't like to think about the fact that someone (your child or a staff member) might get seriously injured because a parent is distracted, but it is going to happen (and has happened at other schools). If your phone call or text can't wait, we ask that you please take care of that communication BEFORE entering the car loop. We don't like to be perceived as being rude when we ask you to put your vehicle in "Park," or we motion for you to put your phone down, but we do this for the safety of YOUR child. Again, we ask that you understand why we are asking these two simple requests of you, and ask that you please respond. Again, thank you to those parents and family members, help us each day by following these two simple rules! Let's have a safe car loop at Odessa! ... See MoreSee Less
Diana Pratt HunterGreat reminder! It is all about the safety of our children. Please also keep in mind as you head to and from the car loop the speed limit is 15 mph. Our biggest group of speed offenders are parents. For the safety of our children please slow down.
